The Northeast Race Cars Tri-Track Open Modified Series kicks off its season Saturday night at the Monadnock Speedway Winchester NH. Last years Monadnock race was a barn burner won by Matt Hirschman after Woody Pitkat and Chris Pasteryak tangled opening the door for Matt. Also returning to the track this week will be Tommy Barret who this week confirmed he will be at there Saturday night. Mike earned one of his biggest paydays at last years Monadnock race. ![]() Mike Holdridge is back after working his way in to the feature with the B-main win after a couple of early spins in his heat and the consolation race and a never say die attitude. Drivers like Karl Fredrickson, who when he finished second or third in a Tri-Track non qualifiers race a couple of years ago and won more money than any other race in his career at Lee Speedway. There also are drivers who may not be the top funded teams but are at the race track every week because of their love of the sport. Matt Hirschman, and Andy Jankowiak who both had tough calls to make with the ROC racing at Lake Erie, NASCAR WMT drivers Ron Silk, and Rowan Pennink, plus Andy Seuss, Woody Pitkat Chris Pasteryak and Justin Bonsignore and many others. Looking over the confirmed entry list there are some well known names that you expect to see at a race as big as this. Ron’s brother Ken Bouchard has entered this race named for his brother. The Monadnock race has been named in Ron’s memory and many fans in attendance will be there to saute the former NASCAR modified and Winston Cup driver. What makes the event even more special will be the tribute to a great racing legend that passed away over the winter, Ron Bouchard. Saturday at Monadnock about 40 confirmed entries will take to the 1/ 4 mile high banks to see who can take home the $5,000.00 first place money. If you are a fan of modified racing and don’t know about the series you just are not paying attention. From last fall and to now they have relentlessly spent their time putting together this series. Sponsors like Alloy Race Wheels, Northeast Race Cars and many others including thousands of dollars from the fans themselves. ![]() Speaking to James better know as the LImodmaniac on a regular basis we know the amount of time he, Dick Williams and others spend beating the bushes for sponsors, race teams and fans. Fast forward to 2016, people like Dick Williams and the Racing Guys, James Schaefer and Kevin Rice have put their heart and sole into this series which boasts some of the largest car counts of any series, modified or other in New England. Race one did not go as well as planned as only 16 cars and a less than full grandstand disappointed many involved. When the Star SBM was run several years ago who knew in 2016 there would be a series like the Tri-Track Open Modified Series.
